over the rainbow.

after 1 year, 6 months, and 1 day (or 548 days), i'm going to stop updating this blog. thanks for reading.

Friday April 16th
The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor; but that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along. People who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring - all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It's overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt.

Wednesday April 14th
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.

coffee.

Don't settle for someone who only buys you coffee.
Go for someone who makes one for you.

watch me.

There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't.
It's your job to turn around and say "watch me".

how many coins.

Sunday April 11th
The more that you read, the more things you'll know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

Saturday April 10th
It doesn't make sense to let go of something you had for so long, but it also doesn't make sense to hold on when nothing's there.

Friday April 9th
No matter how many coins you throw in a fountain, or the number of fingers you cross, if it's not meant to be, it won't happen.

success.

Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart.

every sport.

Every sport has its limits and its rules.
We can try to bend the rules, defend the rules, expand the limits, but eventually, the game will snap back to the way it was meant to be played.

being human.

Mistakes are part of being human.
Appreciate your mistakes for what they are; precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way.

which to burn.

one of the hardest things in life is knowing which bridge to cross and which to burn.

double-edge comfort.

My thoughts tend to sound better in books I didn't write, and in the songs I didn't sing. Even then, sometimes there is no piece of literature, no song, no work of art that can really explain the way you feel. There is a double-edge comfort in knowing that no one really knows.

into the dark.

There’s always going to be bad stuff out there. But here’s the amazing thing — light trumps darkness, every time. You can stick a candle into the dark, but you can’t stick the dark into the light.

sunglasses.

when the world's given up on you, put on your sunglasses, turn up the music and let them f#$@ themselves. you'll want to push yourself further without them.
